Juniper Green is a village on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland situated 9 kilometres south west of the city centre. It bridges the city bypass, and extends along the foothills of the Pentlands. It is bordered by Colinton to the east and Currie to the south-west. Administratively, Juniper Green falls within the jurisdiction of the City of Edinburgh Council. By general consent, the geography of Juniper Green includes Baberton Mains to the north.

Juniper Green's earliest mention is in the Kirk records of Colinton in 1707. Traditionally, its major industries were paper and snuff. The 300th anniversary of Juniper Green was celebrated throughout 2007 and the community supported many social and environmental improvement projects. The opportunity was also taken to record locals' reminiscences about Juniper Green and collect photographs, which have been archived on the Juniper Green Village Association website.
Today it is primarily a dormitory suburb of Edinburgh with its own shops, computer repair centre, chemist, pubs, fish and chip shop, restaurant, and bowling club.
Juniper Green is served by Juniper Green Primary School[1] and nearby Currie High School.
Leisure facilities include a golf course, bowling club[2] and tennis club[6]. The area is served by Juniper Green parish church.[3]
The Currie and Balerno News[4] is Juniper Green's community newspaper which also includes coverage of nearby Balerno, Baberton and Currie. Published monthly the paper features local news, a monthly police neighbourhood watch update, an SSPCA appeal and coverage of local planning applications and developments.
The A70 runs through the area and Juniper Green is serviced by the 44,[5] 45 and 44N bus routes, which are operated by both Lothian Buses and First Edinburgh. It also has access to Livingston through Prentice Westwood's 424 service funded by West Lothian Council. The 33 bus service is also available via a connecting footpath to Baberton Mains.
The Juniper Green Village Association (JGVA) represents the communities of Juniper Green and Baberton Mains and the website posts details of major planning applications, environmental projects, local news and hosts local discussion. JGVA is sponsoring a number of community projects during 2008. Some of the projects initiated during the Juniper Green 300 tercentenary celebration are ongoing and are being stewarded by the JGVA.
The project to erect a monument in the village is progressing. A letter from the Council has confirmed that the grassed area next to the tennis courts (Coordinates 55.9048 N, 3.2867 W) would be suitable for erection of a Juniper Green 300 monument.
Another project to provide new signs at the boundary of Juniper Green and Baberton Mains, has received support in principle from the Edinburgh City Council. A suggested design for the signs can be viewed at the JGVA website where comments about the proposal can be logged.
The JGVA website is the new home for much of the community history previously presented on the Juniper Green 300 web site. The Juniper Green 300 website closed in November 2008.
The Juniper Green Community Council was inaugurated in November 2009.
Juniper Green Conservation Area is situated seven miles to the west of Edinburgh around the main Lanark Road. The conservation area is centred on the historic core of the village of Juniper Green, one of a number of villages, which have been absorbed into the City of Edinburgh.
